[Description]: L-Carnitine occurs as white crystals or as a white, crystalline, hygroscopic powder. It is freely soluble in water, in alcohol, in alkaline solutions, and in dilute mineral acids. It is practically insoluble in acetone and in ethyl acetate. It decomposes without melting at about 185 ºC to 195 ºC.
